Designersblock London 2009

Strangers and seemingly insignificant used objects are brought together in this project called Rooming My World, which explores the level of routine sub consciousness and creativity in different cities. 

The installation is a room made out of exhibits created by various designers aka Object Translators. Each exhibit is called Strange•R - a term derived from the word “stranger” and R referring to “Re-live, Re-born, Re-use, Re-think and Re-create”. Strange•Rs are discarded or used objects that were transformed through a game-like process that re-interprets the experiences from strangers met in a city. These re-interpretations by designers invited by [+O] and members of Singapore Creative Network will see the transformation of these objects into Strange•Rs, giving them a second life to tell the stories of their cities and inhabitants. This installation is sponsored by DesignSingapore Council. Object Translators for this exhibition are Chu Yin Hua, Ernest Goh,Foo Kwee Horng, Jesvin Yeo Puay Hwa and Yu Yah Leng.
